Surgery & Specialized Services
We offer a full scope of advanced surgeries and numerous other routine and emergency surgeries performed in the clinic.
Spay and neuter
Performed on young animals to eliminate the chances of unwanted puppies and kittens. If done on an appropriate timeline these surgeries also greatly decrease the chances of mammary cancer, testicular cancer, prostatic hyperplasia, pyometra (a deadly uterine infection). They can also discourage the development of many unwanted sexual behaviours.
Dental check up and cleaning
Dentistry and oral health is just as important in our pets as it is in us. The big difference, most of them don't get their teeth brushed twice daily. Dental cleanings are absolutely crucial to keeping good oral health in our pets. During a dental cleaning, there are dental x-rays performed to assess health of teeth roots and the jaw bone, there is full mouth scaling and polishing, and any diseased teeth are extracted. The better care you take of your pets teeth, the less extractions that are needed.
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for hematology, chemistry, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics.
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Our on-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
On-site ultrasound equipment assists in the diagnosis of diseases and pregnancy in dogs and cats.
TPLO- Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy: this is a procedure to resolve the instability of the knee joint after a dog has ruptured its cranial cruciate ligament. This is the most common procedure to be performed in a dog with a torn cranial cruciate ligament.
This is another surgery done on the knee to replace a torn cruciate ligament. In this procedure there is a "new ligament" implanted to replace the torn ligament. This increases the stability of the knee and allows the pet to walk pain free again.
We offer complete life care, beginning when you get your new pet and continuing into the golden years and beyond.
We want to check your new pet to ensure that they are healthy, and that there are no abnormalities that will make life difficult or uncomfortable for them. If there are, we can offer solutions or management techniques to help. During these first few appointments we also set up an appropriate schedule for vaccination and deworming tailored to your pet.
Annual wellness checkups:
This is an annual recheck to ensure that we are staying on top of your pets wellbeing. This is a complete physical exam and any necessary vaccination or deworming that is due will be given. This is a chance to assess your pet for any pain, arthritis, dental disease or other indicators of deteriorating health. Early detection makes treatment much easier.
Senior wellness exams:
Any pet over the age of 8 years old will receive a senior wellness exam. This is a full physical that is focused on ensuring the best quality of life, and keeping them as comfortable as possible as they age. Once your pet is in this age category annual bloodwork is recommended, remember early detection leads to better long-term outcomes.
We offer microchip identification.
We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
